Does anyone know of any good internet communities that they would be willing to share? Kind of like how 4chan was good before.
Also post general interesting places on the net.
I've been looking too. I figured I'd start going to iichan/wakachan because they kept pace with 4chan before 4chan started blowing up, but it's slowed down some since then. Ultimately I've been hoping to find a place just a little more active than 4chan was in 04/05, imageboard or otherwise.
> Kind of like how 4chan was good before.
> Ultimately I've been hoping to find a place just a little more active than 4chan was in 04/05, imageboard or otherwise.Sounds like you're looking for /prog/.
Frankly I'd rather more people use these boards, or at least post more often.
I check every board here at least once a day, and I suspect other people do too, but new posts are uncommon.
4-ch is a great framework for anonymous discussion, I just wish it would be a little faster.
> I just wish it would be a little faster.
Some people said the same thing about /b/, in 2004.
it's ok heaven, most people have gotten too used to pictures so I doubt we'd be able to get that many
but I like this site and agree some more users would be nice, everyone here just takes in the fun atmospheres w/ themselves
Very subjective but I like 7chan's /eh/
as well as /wiz/ on wizardchan.
iichan/wakachan and desuchan are good to occasionally browse
Tohno-chan is a pretty nice place for anime discussion

wizardsham? Good riddance
I miss haikyo.
Small personal sites have started to spawn boards.
http://board.cerealexperiments.com
http://easterncalcul.us/ec/
I check here daily as well. If there was at least 3 new posts a day I'd be happy. Just wish /b/ was better.

I like to search for text like "- wakaba 3.0.8 + futaba + futallaby -" in search engines.
It's amazing how many little sites have a small wakaba install and it's interesting what you could find there.

Interesting. All I've found so far is niche fetish boards, abandoned boards with posts dating back to 2005 and earlier, and assorted Japanese interest boards.

4chan was never good.
http://afternoon.heliohost.org/ is really relaxing.

I used to post on there but I kinda lost interrest in the board. I don't like the design either. But it's a nice place, it really is. Thanks to it I'll probably get into that manga they are cheering for and whatnot

I recently started http://casualchicken.net/bbs/ it's a slow board, but everyone's nice and our discussions are pretty varied. Would be cool to have some more activity, though. Feel free to join in.
Some of the smaller sub-reddits are quite good.
I recommend /r/AskHistorians and /r/DataHoarder.

I like Wizardchan, they help fight the normie menace.
hitler.org
uncleb.net is just starting out and is really up and coming.
>>27
uncle /b/ is actually pretty cool. They organize a lot of raids in their irc too.
>abandoned boards with posts dating back to 2005 and earlier
There's something that makes me unquestionably sad, yet happy to see those sites. To look at a perfectly preserved image of what that place, those people, were like in the recent past. Sometimes, I want to make a post, just to let any future person know that someone else had seen the page. I never do, I don't want to change the site. I want it to be unchanged for the next person who comes across it, whenever that may be.

Sounds incredibly GIFTy but maybe I'll give it a try.
I've been going to Masterchan and 76chan quite a lot lately
What's the verdict on 8chan?
Any good boards?
It looks like Cyberia at cerealexperiments died.
>>34
Look at the board list and check them out yourself. Some of the most popular boards are also available on 4chan, and a lot of the more niche boards are slow/inactive as expected.
>>34
8chan I like a lot. I spend a lot of time there. My top places are
http://www.secretareaofvipquality.net/saovq/
http://afternoon.heliohost.org/letterbox.html
8chan.co
4-ch.net
I've encountered this little site over here: sushigirl.tokyo and I must say, it's not bad.
>>37
Is afternoon.heliohost.org down? I can't seem to access it, and this saddens me

Hi, I'm just saying hi because I understand you.
Also most links on here are down while the thread is only 2.5 years old which is scary.
I go to:
/late/
/kind/
/tech/
/int/
/pol/
/deutsch/
/balt/
I think 8chan is superior in technology, setup and privacy (it has an onion site; works just fine without JS; does not rely on Google for CAPTCHAs) to 4chan. But the userbase just isn't the same. Without any real culture on some of the boards, it never really feels like 'home' like /int/ on 4chan did for me.
So, yeah, it's really a balance between technological superiority and (at least on some boards with 4chan counterparts) cultural inferiority.
things are really tough.. lots of sites disappearing. I feel like i should make a new site myself
I wonder, where is everyone? Where do you hangout, that isn't in Alexa Top 1000? I feel like people get sucked into few huge sites (reddit, facebook, twitter, tumblr, etc.), while smaller communities slowly but steadily die out.
I wanted to like snapzu.com, but it significantly slowed down, once all I'm-leaving-reddit-lol users went back. Now only the frontpage is active and it isn't particularly interesting.
I always liked forums.selectbutton.net, but it's a very small and specific thing. Only civilized video game community that I have seen.
I trying to like hubski.com, but no one discusses topics I'm most interested in and the community is a bit weird. Worth checking out though, it's neat.
>>44
I go on smaller imageboards like Samachan and Ota when I'm not watching anime.
Focus on making 4-ch how you want it!
Curiously I never see Bunbunmaru mentioned.
It's still pretty good, but sometimes quite slow.
http://www.8ch.net/am/index.html is one of the best anime oriented boards I've ever seen. Too bad it's really slow and gets fucked over by 8ch dying ever so often.
http://samachan.org/ is pretty cool too.
>>51
I came from /am/ through a link of how to make x popular and this guy is lying through his teeth
It consists of nothing but shitposting and like he said it's practically dead.
http://shmups.system11.org/ - nice and oldschool shmup forum. Even slowbeef, that fucking faggot piece of shit, has an account there.
>>54 What's a shmup?
>>54
Am I, as a Channel4 regular, supposed to know who this person is?
>Samachan
Cool.
>8ch.net/am/
This is like if you took a bunch of people who've seen a few different anime and told them to create an anime board all for themselves.
I made a post a few weeks back on a text or image board, but I can't remember which one it was. If it was one of the small, faster moving imageboards it might already be gone too. It's really bothering me, because I was talking to somebody!
>>42
I really like /late/ as well. I also check out /fringe/ from time to time, it's pretty dumb but usually entertaining.
There are lots of Japanese sites that are pretty nice. I wish we focused on content like them. Even this old place is getting a bit stale compared to how it was about a year or two ago. I feel that the act of searching for and finding new sites on the world wide web that are worth while to go to is gradually coming to an end.
>>62
could you share some of these sites?
8ch absolutely blows now that Josh decided to fuck it up. So we over at /jp/ moved to another site. Check it out:
http://www.neetforum.com
A community for NEETs I recently started ^^
>>64
looks good.
>>64
I know I did but it seems like the rest of 8/jp/ didn't really move..
>>67
That's why I'm advertizing it in a place like this. I suggest you do that too but be very careful about whom you ask to come.
>>65
don't trust this forum.
the nazi admin just flipped out and banned everyone for no reason. absolute rulecuck.
>>69
I'm pretty sure using the word "cuck" automatically disqualifies you from calling anyone but you a nazi.
>>57
He's the bureaucratic fuck behind SA.
I've been spending more time on Samachan lately. It's got a fiun vibe and I enjoy the anime discussion.
>>70
Using the word "cuck" unironically should be a bannable offence.
>>72
Not a bad site. It's like 4chan's /a/ if you removed the terrible greentexting and memes. I'll check it out occasionally.
Cuck, unironically

RIP samachan. Anybody know what happened?
>>78
The admin through a huge hissy fit because it wasn't getting as many posts as he felt entitled to, and shut it down.
Sama is back!!
I watched the /just/ stream a week or two ago, it was very fun. https://cytu.be/ is the website that it was on. You can find a nice stream without Amazon rude-word censorship on it.
